Sunday Worship

Worship at Harrodsburg Christian Church

We Gather. We Proclaim. We Respond. We Go Forth.

At Harrodsburg Christian Church, worship is a time when we come together as a community to praise God, encounter Jesus Christ, hear the Word, share at the Lord’s Table, and prepare to live out our faith in the world. Our worship is traditional in its form while open to the expressions of faith that speak to the church today. Each Sunday, you’ll experience familiar hymns, organ, and the ministry of our choir, with contemporary music and guitar occasionally woven into the service. Our worship follows a thoughtful liturgy, creating a rhythm that is both reverent and welcoming.

Our one-hour service begins as we gather with a welcome, announcements, call to worship, and congregational hymn. We proclaim through Scripture readings, special music, and a sermon that is grounded in Scripture and connects God’s Word to everyday life. Through responsive readings and congregational prayer, we participate together rather than simply observe. Our People’s Prayer gives us the opportunity to lift up the joys, concerns, and needs of our church family, followed by the Lord’s Prayer.

As we respond, we gather around the Lord’s Table each Sunday to celebrate Communion. At Harrodsburg Christian Church, the Lord’s Table is open to all believers, reflecting our understanding that Christ welcomes all who come in faith. Elders lead us in prayer and the celebration of Communion, while deacons serve the congregation. We conclude with a closing hymn and benediction as we go forth, reminded that worship does not end when we leave the sanctuary, we are sent into the world to live our faith, serve others, and share Christ’s love.

Children are always welcome in worship, and we encourage families to worship together. Two screens in the sanctuary display hymns, Scripture, and other elements of the service, making it easy to participate whether you have worshiped with us for years or are joining us for the very first time. You don’t have to know our traditions or have all the answers. Come as you are, worship with us, and find a place among us.

Children’s Worship

Children grades K-5th are invited to attend Children’s Church which meets in the back of the sanctuary after special music.

PrayerGround

The Prayerground is a space in front of the sanctuary designed for children and families. Child size chairs and table. Rugs for children to sit and lay on. Assorted items for them to use while they are in worship with the whole church family. Play-doh, beads, stickers, coloring pages, books, crayons, markers, construction paper and so much more. While they work with these resources they hear the songs, prayers, scripture being read, and even pick up a few things from the sermon. They experience community that loves them.

Praise Packs

Feel free to pick up a Praise pack at the back of the sanctuary that can be taken to any pew. Filled with coloring books, puzzles, and games that can be used anywhere in the sanctuary.
